Scientific Journal Articles are often confusing for lay readers as they are filled with technical jargon, methodology, statistical analysis, etc. which can be quite complex.  For the casual reader, the Introduction and Results or Summary sections would be of most interest and should suffice to gain appropriate knowledge.
